Hi my name is Patricia Reilly, I have been operating under the name Arty Farty Parties on a self employed basis since my successful completion of a city in guilds level 1 and National Association of Balloon Artists (NABAS) level 2 back in 2006 (Yes amazing you can get a qualification in balloons!). My mother thought of the name over dinner all those years ago as we celebrated my decision to start the venture. For the first six years Arty Farty Parties was more of a sideline to my main job working with people who have disabilities in their own homes and in the local community.
Last year I was made redundant from my main job and decided to try working for myself on a full time basis. I officially established two companies, Arty Farty Parties and PB Partners back in August 2011 which allow me to incorporate my love of balloons more into my working week. PB Partners covers my Consultancy, Direct Payments, Support Planning, Managed Accounts, Training and Advocacy work.
The past year has been an exciting year for Arty Farty Parties with the introduction of Fantasy Flowers training sessions specifically for people who have physical disabilities and on occassion with children attending playscheme. These training session have been a great success and we hope to roll them out to a wider geographical area. The training sessions encourage those who have an aptitude or interest to do more than learn how to make Fantasy Flowers. They encourage them to co teach or teach the class themselves at some point in the future when they are ready. See the Fantasy Flower section for the sessions in action and the resulting products.
There were other additions in 2011 with Chocolate Creations being absorbed under the umbrella of Arty Farty Parties. Chocolate Creations was a successful small business in its own right based in Scotland and owned by my cousin. He passed it on to me keeping it in the family when he emigrated to Australia last year. Chocolate Creations currently consists of a industry standard chocolate fountain that can be hired along with servers. Future developments will be introducing various flavours of chocolate and customised chocolate sweets - stayed tuned!
The most recent addition comes in the form of Katie May's Jewellery which my mother Mary designs and makes. She taught herself at the grand young age of 71 in January 2012. See the photo gallery for some of Mary's designs!
The future for Arty Farty Parties lies in training. It is my vision to bring affordable party decor to everyone by teach people to decorate in a professional manner without paying a fortune or having to study for a qualification. These training sessions will be accessible to all people including those who have a disability, with sessions customised according to individuals wants and needs. Keep watching for future training dates in the news and events section.
